This turned out so good I just had to share it. I realize some people were able to upgrade the audio on their own, but I'm sure there are others who were not, so this is for them. Thanks to the original seeder, the video of this DVD is excellent, thanks to Bob for suggesting to extract the audio in wav and reduce it to mono and double the volume, and the chap who went through the trouble of posting the chapter points. I authored the DVD with Tsunami DVD author, and once again, the audio is LPCM MONO, but it sounds super. So this DVD has a menu and chapters. I will post screens of two menus, I think you all know what the video quality is like. Enjoy.

If you run the DVD through Shrink or GSpot, it will show the audio as AC3 stereo, but it is not. I basically imported the LPCM mono over the AC3 audio in Tsunami. Shrink will also show a wrong sized audio file, the correct size is about 600 MBs.

Ehm, if you don't want to download this one, don't be afraid, you'll surely get a very good (probably slightly better than this) version :-) And no, this doesn't look like pow wow's or 928's work http://www.queenzone.com/queenzone/forumnew/forum_topic_view.aspx?Q=1109319

If he is planning to use lossless audio with this video, I think the file would have to be a DVD9, unless he reduces it to mono as well. The audio I extracted was 1.2 GB and I reduced it to mono, so it was half the size. The original DVD was about 3.8 GBs so I don't think he can fit the stereo PCM and the video on a DVD5. But I could be wrong. The audio on this is decompressed AC3.

Heads up This DVD here IS NOT LPCM audio. It is uncompressed AC3 audio to LPCM.Therefore it's still AC3 ...lossy. The version i am doing will be pure LPCM.Real LPCM. Basically when i'm done,it will be the definitive of Houston 77. EDIT:....sorry Tgunn, you told of the AC3 while i was posting this.

It sounds great, better than any other version so far. If you have the LCPM why don't you up just the audio? Then I'd like to see if you can squeeze a full LPCM audio file onto a DVD5.

I still don´t know in wich format he will upload it (in case he does), but i only asked because after he stated what he was doing there were some people loosing time trying to do the same thing. I apreciate all the work (and you already stated that you didn´t knew about his work), but since this type of work is time consuming -and i hate doing it myself ; ) - i was just wondering why people are still doing it when he has the best audio source avaiable! But let me tell you that i apreciate you efforts to make a better version avaiable in the Queen comunity. Thanks for sharing! Take care

Take care I wasn't sure if anyone was authoring a DVD with the lossless audio. I waited for a while to see if anyone would post the LPCM here, when I saw nothing I simply authored the DVD with the decompressed AC3, which I reduced to mono and then doubled the volume, as Bob had suggested. It was an easy process, the menu took some time, but I kept the Tsunami project file, and if I need to, I can make another DVD easily with lossless audio, or download 928's "ultimate" version. If I reauthor mine, I will look for some high res photos of the Houston concert on this site. Once I had added the chapters, it took about 30 minutes to build DVD files and then 15 minutes to burn a copy to a DVD-RW so I could see and hear how it turned out. I was blown away. I have the other version, with the vertical lines, and I thought that DVD had the best audio until I played this. It's LOUD, sounds great, and LOOKS great, the video is beautiful. So, I thought some people here might want a better sounding version, and one with chapters and menus. If 928 or whoever else decides to author a better version, wonderful. I would definitely download it, for trading and sharing purposes, but I honestly don't think the audio will sound that much better. I will make a big difference in that it will be lossless, while this is lossy, but for now I can live with this version. I played it three times over the weekend, by the way. It's the best Queen concert I have seen on video.

Every documentary and even Rare Live has a mono soundtrack (assumingly the video feed). This DVD shared here is just as good as any of these official sources.

How can you tell is an audio source was originally mono, even if it was later made into pseudo-stereo?
