Hey Doughnut,
As Joe Fanelli did not accompany Freddie during his time in New York (1981-1983) I did not get to know him outside of the times Lee and I traveled to London which was well after we had become very close with Freddie and Phoebe. He was a perfect gentleman and was very friendly to us, Also, he was very hard-working in the kitchen and took his job quite seriously. Joe F. even escorted us to twice to the, then popular, Copa disco in the Earl's Court district. Freddie, unfortunately would never go out to gay clubs with us in London...he really couldn't. Joe F. spoke very intelligently, was entertaining with some very witty stories and brought a pleasant harmony to the residents and guests of the Garden Lodge.

LOL@Black Queen's Kid Yeah! I should blame the alcohol for my crappy typing and even worse proof reading! In my case scotch whisky, which I enjoy very much! Neat with maybe a rock or two!

Poor Thor! I am sorry you suffered the problems of travel frustrations! I'll bet you were tired after all that. I got stuck in grid locked traffic around Birmingham city centre a couple of weeks ago. 40 minutes to travel less than a mile! Had a humongous headache after that.

Blenkolovepp I'm totally with you regarding Freddie's voice. His deep, rich voice both stimulates me and soothes me. It's like pouring honey over butterscotch! Heaven!

I love the harmonic, vibrato qualities (if these are the correct terms) of his medium range singing. There is NOTHING to compare to this man's voice, either speaking or singing. And yes that hint of sibilance is adorable!

Doughnut! I was accepted by the 50 Shades of Freddie site! *Phew*! Those ladies are some dirty birdies! LOL! Makes my little day dreams seem tame! :-) was fun, though, and nicec to visit a place where everyone loves Freddie.

I remember in Champions of my The World documentary they visited Queens office in Pembroke Road and Jacky Gunn/Smith was showing a scrap book of things they'd been sent , and one was a letter from a lady saying she's like to tie Freddie bed and do all sorts of things to him. I imagine Freddie hoooted with laughter at it! LOL!

Gotta go. Work, work, work!

See you soon, my lovely peeps! Have a brilliant Thursday!

I bet that game is alot of fun but they can get a little too dirty. Its one thing to comment on a costume but another to fantasize sexually on someone I personally want the real deal always so I guess I dont have much of an imagination. But they say those role play games are loads of fun.I have to admit being tied up is kinda old school I bet there is much more exciting things than that to fantasize about.Dont get me wrong I believe Freddoe was a attractive man I just could not see myself going there.Hes not my type.I think I admire his othEr qualities more most ladies would say I'm nuts.

Oh no! I know what stretch of road you're talking about, Thor and you cannot change a tire there. I can't believe it was only 6 months old. Give them hell!

Do you remember if Joe had an English accent? In video I've seen it appears he did slightly, despite being from Massachusetts (my home state). He lived there for a while so maybe he developed one.

Hey SweetandTender,
Yes, that is one of the WORST stretches of road in all of Southern California. It's called Hwy 111. AAA had ridiculous amounts of trouble determining my location despite it being the first exit from the west on I-10 Freeway (exit 111..dah?)to Palm Springs with only perhaps a 10 mile stretch, with only ONE possible cross street and approximately 2 miles from a major city, North Palm Springs All this, not to mention that I was the only disabled car. They could have gone up and down that road 20 times over in the three hours that I had to wait for them.

Joe F. did have a slight English accent (from which region of the U.K?... I have no idea.) That last accent discussion had me so confused. It seems as if people whose families have always lived across the street from each other could have different regional accents. How did that ever happen?

But it was odd to us how a boy from the U.S. could or would develop a different accent.

That's an interesting question SweetandTender as he may well have picked up a bit of an accent from living here. I swear that during Freddie's NYC times he had picked up a bit of an american accent. I can hear it when he says 'are you ready brothers and sisters' before playing 'somebody to love' from that era.

Chevyman the Sex Pistols were a British punk band and there was supposed to be a bit of contention between them. Have a little search on google and you will find lots of info.

Freddiedarling I recall Jacky Gunn and the letter to Freddie, I'm sure there were many fan letters sent like that lol.

50 shades ...yep dirty birdies...i just like looking at all the lovely Freddie photos. I am trying to teach my 11 year old daughter that a hairy chest is the best but she isnt buying it lol .

Blenkolove...what is a hump day? sounds a bit naughty he he he I am glad to like our humour, I have a dry sense of humour . I too could listen to Freddie either talk or sing all day.

emdee no worries about using adorable, its nice and not offensive at all. I am sure you would love London. I was in London for a few drinks and a meal recently and it always make me remember how fab it is. The houses of Parliament , Tower of London and other such places are an amazing part of our heritage. I would also like to visit America but it is just too expensive.

Thor thank you for your reply. Joe sounded a lovely, hardworking and loyal guy. Freddie was very lucky.

I have another question and its about you if ok. You mention that you are still close to Brandon, I wondered if there has been anyone else close in your life since or has noone been able to replace Brandon?

peace out

Thor in the UK we have counties and each county has its own accent. It's very confusing I know. I am in the county of Essex bordering East London so I have an essex/londonish accent.

People who live in the north of the country we tend to call Northeners and for those in the south, southerners . There is the North/South divide lol. It tends to be cheaper to live in the north of the UK and more expensive down South.

Thor sorry I meant to also ask you another question.

Could Freddie not go to the gay clubs with you in London even before he became poorly? I know Phoebe seems to indicate he went to the London Gay clubs but perhaps by 1986 he was getting too famous and he would have stood out.

Thor - sorry to hear about you tires nothing more frustrating - but on a positive note - if it was going to happen better within hours then days or weeks - hopefully, you got more than two tires out of the deal!!

Hump day - what we look forward to in the work week - Wednesday - two days closer to the weekend!!

Chevyman - don't think I want to google Sex Pistols:)

Chevyman. I have absolutely imagination to speak of, so my contributions would tend to be on the take side.

As for being tied up! No thanks! I hate to be our of control.

According to Phoebe Freddie, for a short period, purposely adopted a "mid Atlantic" accent when it suited his purposes.

Sometimes I think some people in the UK purposely strengthen their regional accent as almost a badge of honour. Some to the extent that even people from their own area struggle to comprehend them.

I was once on a ghost walk in a park in the Black Country area of the West Midlands and my friend kept having to translate what the man who had a broad Blackcountry accents was saying. I understood about 6 words out of every 10 and I live a stones throw from the border of the area! They have different words for things as well as different pronunciation.

Punk was about a 2 year wonder really. Hyped up out of all expectations by idiot media like NME. All hot air and no substance! They were just after triggering a shock reaction, really.

Going to go have my tea now. Bye for now, peeps.

Emdee, They were back in the sixties so I wasnt real familiar with them at all but the lead singer was terrible no manners and I guess no class.I guess Freddie was gonna teach him how to be classy and cool .But sid ended up and overdosed I believe on heroin .His own mom is the one who gave it to him no wonder the poor guy had problems.
