Hey Shaun thanks. We raised $430 for the Mercury Phoenix Trust and $931 for St.Jude's Children's Hospital. Each big giveaway is made up of items from my own collection and we accept absolutely no payment or donations ourselves (I always stress this because some people can be real shady about that). All donations are made by our followers directly through the official website for each charity. All we ask for is photo proof of the donation receipt given to them via email or website for confirmation. As for our next charity, I'm not sure what that will be yet. I'm leaning toward the ASPCA and looking into credible no kill shelters. The Thor and Lee live will not raise money, as that happens through our giveaways and not our lives, but people are very eager for it, for sure.

We also do random book giveaways for Mercury and Me and Peter Freestone's first book in between the large giveaways. It helps to keep people excited about learning about Freddie.

Thor, I have indeed and Shaun did seem open to considering it after he sees your live with me. He seems a bit shy around fans and did want to be sure his friends from Garden Lodge would be accurately represented so he is actually in talks with me about bringing up a possible script to look over with questions. Similar to what I sent you guys. Something to think about for sure!

Thor,

Sounds like a waiting game for the plumbing issue. Hopefully the condo plumber will be honest, but I understand being concerned about his objectivity.

I think the "Would Freddie would have gotten married?" conversation took place while you were away. Lot's of very thoughtful comments on both sides. What do you think....not specifically about Jim, but in general? Do you think Freddie would have ever considered marriage? A person certainly does not need a marriage certificate to have a long-term loving and committed relationship, but it still means something to those who choose that route in life, so it's natural to wonder if Freddie would have considered doing so.

Rainbow,
We never discussed it since in those days it was not an option. If d have to guess, I would think that he likes domestic partnership over marriage after seeing what havoc was wreaked in his last engagement attempt. That again is just supposition on my part. I myself have tended toward domestic partnership although I never had the pleasure of declaring it.

St. Juib, thanks for your link. I've always enjoyed humorist Dave Barry. I esp. like his #8 and #9:
8. The most destructive force in the universe is gossip.
9. You will never find anybody who can give you a clear and compelling reason why we observe daylight savings time.

Villiers2, thanks for your generous donations to the Mercury Phoenix Trust and to St. Jude's! They're certainly worthy causes.

Thor, I can loan you my snorkel and adjustable face mask, but I doubt you can get into my wetsuit or fins. BTW, that’s not meant as an insult. Speaking as a water baby and diver, I had questions from a few weeks ago you inadvertently overlooked. It got buried in an avalanche of posts:

Was Freddie afraid of the water? Could he swim? When you boys went to the beach(es) in NY, would he step in the water? Was he ever completely submerged in the Atlantic?

For laughs, I researched patron saints online (No, I don’t have them ALL memorized by heart already.). St. Vincent Ferrer appears to be the most consistent name (He was a Dominican priest.) as the patron saint for plumbers and pipefitters. Pray to Vince!

Coming from a thunder God and a man who pulled a rockstar, that's quite a compliment lol thank you Mr Thor. The next time my wife gives me a hard time I'll have to tell her I have options! Ha!

SM, "pulled a rockstar?" Am I going to make an absolute fool of myself again and ask what that means? LOL I seem to have these brain freezes lately. Thanks again for answering my question about Jer's height eons ago. Please stay on the thread.

Sorry, St. Jiub, I spelled your name wrong. BTW, what is St. Jiub's claim to fame? What is s/he a patron saint of?

Perhaps "pulling" is a retired term these days. I sometimes forget my age. Back in the 70s and 80s if you walked out of the club with a hot individual on your arm, you pulled them.

Example being "Nice one mate. Saw you pull that beauty last night."

Thanks, SM, it also sounds like British slang vs. American slang.

Before I got COMPLETELY sidetracked, I meant to post a link earlier to the official trailer for "Rocketman" or Elton John's biopic (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3vO8E2e6G0). It comes to theatres on May 31st. I like the line in the trailer. "You got to kill the person you were born to be, in order to become the person you WANT to be." Elton John was born Reginald Dwight. I feel that line applied to Freddie, too. He "killed" Farrokh (sp. ?) Bulsara and his youth spent in Zanzibar and India in order to become British Freddie Mercury.

Sir Elton was smart to have a biopic made - when he's still alive. He served as the executive producer. Thus, he had control over the narrative.

Let me tell you this: When we had our trip to Jones Beach, N.Y. for our picnic. Freddie (and Phoebe) who would never just leave him alone, were the only ones NOT to go into the water. That is too bad because July and August are the months with the warmest and clearest Atlantic waters.
No Freddie has nothing on Aquaman!.

Hi guys and gals! I’ve been lurking in this thread for sometime now and have finally decided to join in on the party officially and to continue creeping in the shadows.

First and foremost, I’d like to say thank you to Thor and Lee for creating this thread and sharing all these interesting things about Freddie and yourselves. I’m in my early 20’s and was not even a thought when Freddie and Queen were active so it’s cool to get the opportunity to learn more about Freddie through two people who actually knew and were friends with him.

In regards to SM, thank you for sharing you experiences as well. I agree with you concerning that particular Instagram. I’m all for fun in games, but that account definitely crossed some lines that weren’t funny to me even though I was aware she didn’t say/write those things with malicious intent. Not really my type of humor, especially with regards to people you don’t know personally, but to each it’s own. Though it’s social media and it’s a place for jokes, you raise a good point the fact that people who knew Freddie, Jim, Joe (and Peter) are still around should be considered.

Sweetandtenderhooligan / jimandfreddieforever your jokes might not have translated well for everyone, but I don’t think it’s necessary that you delete your accounts. We’ve all made inappropriate jokes about something, and really going forward all we can do is try to be better and consider the people who might be affected by what we say. I feel that there’s space for us all to be online and stay in our pockets of things that appeal to sensibilities and ignore the things that don’t.

This first post is way longer than I expected it to be, but anyway...I look forward to further discussions. And Thor, I hope your plumbing situation resolves in your favor. Back into the shadows I go, until later.

St Jiub is a minor fictitious character from a swords and sorcery video game called Skyrim. He had been a criminal who later redeemed himself and became a saint in the game world.

I enjoyed the game very much last year and changed my name from Panchgani to St Jiub whilst playing the game.
