With luck that will be clickable. I tried.

The fan comments are presumably on the photo of the still from the movie, but loading older Insta comments when there are dozens is a real pain. At least on iPad.

Hey Galileo, on a purely technical level, how did you make that link to Brian's Instagram page clickable? I've tried to do that with links, but never been successful.

Saint juib, I'm not good at downloading links but I think someone did it for me.To me it just says it doesnt matter if things are correct and completely accurate about his bandmates life and story just as long as it's made alot of money and it was the best movie ever.Complete bullshit to me.Is that any better than the press that are writing these false articles and stories as long as they are making money?

Katy and all,

To make links clickable on QZ, just remove the “s” in “https”. This works most of the time. No one seems to know why it doesn’t always work. I’ve seen two different people post the identical link, one with the “s” and one without, and still only one works.

So give it a try, and if it doesn’t work, do what Freddie would do and treat yourself to a celebratory glass of bubbly.

Galileo ...that was just my poor use of grammer in a very tired and grumpy moment lol

I did mean' I don't think Freddie had any kind of sexual relationship with Barbara' .

I hope Thor isn't ignoring me as I would love to know about that great painting in GL :)

Thank the lord its Friday, I'm beat

Have a good one all

Doughnut— I knew exactly what you meant! That’s partly why it was so funny. It was a kind of compliment because you made me laugh.

Anyway, I agree. I think all that stuff comes from LAJ and from Barbara making up stuff. And David Wigg. And I don’t really care what Freddie and Barbara did, honestly.

Galileo 1564…

My grandparents (mother’s side) were born and raised in the US, but they attended a French school, went to mass at a French church, and lived in a largely French-Canadian neighborhood. You mentioned Montreal...thankfully most people seem to be bilingual there...so no problems ordering anything. Poutine, my favorite artery-clogging food, is a must every time I visit. Thanks for the tip about the Alliance Francaise. I had never heard of that organization before.

You are right about accents. Some British accents are extremely difficult for me to understand. A Scottish accent is particularly challenging, although I think the sound is absolutely lovely.

On a related note…I love the short YouTube clip of Freddie speaking a few words in Japanese. He looks so proud of himself! (Thanks for the technical advice on how to post links…I hope this works...I removed the "s")

It seems there are many of us who studied a second language in school, but never had the opportunity to use it much and eventually forgot what we learned. Except we all probably remember Lesson #1 found in most foreign language books: "Hello, my name is ________. What is your name? How are you today? I am fine." One of the things I was most excited about in 7th grade French class was being able to select a French name that I could use throughout the year. I selected Gabrielle, and to this day I am particularly fond of that name!

stevendabudgie...I love that your father is such a big Elvis fan! Great music stays great music no matter where it is played. Freddie could be singing in any language and I would enjoy hearing his magnificent voice and watching him perform! Actually, listening to foreign language songs can be a fun way to learn the words of another language...that's probably why I remember "Frère Jacques" after all these years.

Texas-German...now that is a combination I never would have thought of! Interesting. By the way...thanks for the Goethe poem, although I loved the "tumbledown" castles I saw in Ireland last year. Like Katydyd said, they excite the imagination.

Thanks for the tip Galileo! Now I'll have to find something worthy of linking to try it out. And by worthy I mean something you all haven't seen a hundred times already.

Brain must have been laughing whilst writing his Instagram diatribe:

"You want to tell the story honestly, decently" ... LOL LOL LOL

The movie created an alternative dishonest narrative and implicitly claimed:

Freddie broke up the band by creating a solo album.
Freddie had to beg to get back into the band.
Freddie was lonely and unhappy because he was a gay man.
Freddie was lonely and unhappy because he was not married with a family.
Freddie had no genuine gay friends.
Freddie would have been better off with Mary.

Rainbow, That was the fun part pick a different name for the whole year.I also didnt care for my given name because it was different and at that time noone had it so I was glad to pick one.You are right though If you dont use a language you have learned you forget it.

Saint, I'm glad you were able to give some feed back on the Instagram post Brian put up.I do have to say I agree on this one.He was not sad he was a happy person it seemed.Happy to be with friends .He didnt seem lonely to me.I dont think he would've made a good family man at all.His sister even said so.Everyone lives with regrets but From everything I know to be fact he wasnt sad about not being with mary.Im sure she was an still is till this day.But I have to say men are different than women when it comes to that kinda thing anyway. So I really think making a fabulous film and making alot of money was a good goal for this film and they nailed it.

Rainbow... LOL@ being unable to understand Scottish accents! I'm English, and I often struggle too!

Just a few miles from my area of Birmingham is an area called The Black Country (because it was so heavily industrial the buildings were black with door !)and I can't even understand them! :-D

Freddie's English was beautifully spoken! St. Peter's must have insisted on correct pronunciation and enunciation.

Have a great Saturday, Peeps !
