Agree on all points Villiers. I like David, from what I've seen and read. Clearly Freddie did too when he called him up for, I think it was his 40th birthday party. I'm glad they were able to have peaceful times at the end of Freddie's life.

Thanks CJ for reply, I had no idea of Paul's description of events.

Hiiiiiiiiiii

Where the HELL have I been? Couple of things....

I'm im full holiday work mode.....extra hours, extra shifts, extra crazy.

I'll be catching up over the next couple of days, but the last few pages have been much more fun than the beginning of the week. I will ALWAYS be M I A when that arguing is going on, and it's time consuming reading through that babble. I read through it to convince myself I am right about those people, and to make sure I don't miss anything from good people.

I agree with everything Thor said on that subject, and I wish they would go away. Thor has been handling the heavy lifting for the last couple of days, and I promise I will catch up. I'm going to reread the last few pages and take notes tomorrow, to make sure I cover all of the questions.

Thor I apologize.......I have been meaning to text you to tell you my whereabouts, but time has gotten away from me.

Til tomorrow night.........Happy Everything

Thor, I will be most interested to hear from you about Call Me By Your Name. I've read great reviews and have it on my Netflix list though I will have to wait for a while for it to be released through that medium. I'd like to see it in the theater, but my only hope in my area is that it might appear in the art theater downtown in the university district.

Lee, I was glad to see you make an appearance again. You were missed!

Wishing everyone a great Christmas and New Years. My family can't all be together for Christmas until the 31st, so it keeps catching me by surprise that it is this week for everyone else!

Hi All

Gonna try and catch up here....

Gonna just ramble and see what comes up. If I miss someone's question, please ask again. I'm sorta brain dead from the holidays..HA!

Thor's explanation to dating girls and being gay in the sixties is great. You were considered a nice guy if you didn't push the girls into something. WHEW....we had an out. MY problem is that I had a girl friend through Freshman year in college, and then another one my junior and senior year......where I remained a gentleman and didn't push. AHEM I was president of the Music Fraternity on campus, and they were SO concerned about bringing considered wimps, that they over compensated, and tried to act like a bunch of jocks.........try being president of THAT when you're in the closet. The hazing was right up there with the hardest on campus, and BOY did that suck trying to get into that group, but I managed. I came out just before graduation, to my first lover Alan, and spent Graduate school telling everyone I knew that I was gay. Everyone was kinda "tell us something we DON'T know"........duh. NO FRATERNITY BROTHERS WERE TOLD. HA!

Sheldon........I think its thoughtful of you to wonder what Freddie's feelings would be about our story telling. I agree with Thor. One thing comes to mind. I don't remember the exact conversation, but once when I was taking pictures of an outing or an evening we we having, Freddie turned to me and said something along the lines of sharing the photos I was taken, but don't give them away. LOL NOW what do I do........

I have only seen one of the Garden Lodge You tube Videos........I guys I have some homework to do. I mean I was THERE, but I don't remember there being anything to personal being shown. Maybe Freddie smoking and relaxed? Works for me. I'll check them out.

Freddie being violent?.......hhhhmmm......he certainly would not have been at a loss for words when confronted, and he sure could get mad when Bill was acting up, but that Vancouver hotel thing was a doozy. I told this story in the last thread, I think. We arrived at Freddie's hotel suite in the morning, not knowing what had happened, and Phoebe opened the door a crack. We heard Freddie say "let them in...they're family". THEN we saw what had happened to the room. Someone here mentioned a $900 bill for plastering.........I'm sure that was a fraction of the cost for repairs. Freddie told us what happened and then posed for some photos amidst the mess. Bill had already been sent on his way, and Mother and Daughters went off to continue the fun on our "West for A Birthday" visit. We had joined the group, and toured for a week with the band on the Lisa Marie. L.A., San Francisco, Vancouver, and Phoenix, and I think its fun that we have a story for each city..........LOL.......lots of stories.........many that you "had to be there", and many that I think would translate to clearly a good time being had by all.

Though we were formally introduced to the band, and they were TOTALLY gracious any time they saw us, we never met Freddie's parents. That would have been a treat. I believe we met the significant others of the band members as they were on the Lisa Marie with us. The front section of the Lisa Marie was left in tact as First Class, and that's where Brian, Roger, and John put themselves, with their other halves while the six of us were in the back with Freddie and Phoebe. We had most of the plane......the middle section being a long and conference area, an the back of the plane was a bedroom with a QUEEN sized bed. I have given this description before, but I'm repeating myself for the sake of newcomers, and to give kudos to the band for letting us have the run of the plane. Those guys were amazing to be so giving to Freddie's buds. We were treated like KINGS by Queen.

Freddie's Co-op was on the 43rd Floor of the Sovereign......a luxury high rise on 58th St......... 425, East 58th Street........not sure there was an apartment number as I think there were only two units on each floor.....A and B maybe? I remember arriving home one morning round 5:00 A.M., and entering the building going past the front desk, security, and the door man. They had huge grins on their face, totally appreciated our party stamina, and gave us a warm welcome. Several of us were in Black leather jackets, and we had had a GREAT evening.......
You can see the blueprint of the Co-Op easily by googling it. I think I'm repeating myself again here, but someone asked about it. The photos you might see of the apartment are from after the makeover after Freddie sold the place. I have photos of the main room which gives you an idea of the feel of the place. GORGEOUS !!!!!!

I'm back.....needed a breather...........and a scotch....LOL

Was Freddie easily bored? I don't think bored is the right word, but he DID like to have things going on. He would be very excited when he talked about a plan he had for an adventure, and the adventures were always fun. When we visited in June of 91, he had quieted down a bit for obvious reasons. One afternoon, Thor and Brandon went out on the town to spend some time together and "sort themselves out" which Freddie had sent them off to do. They were at that point, it turned out, transitioning form a boy friend relationship to a life partner relationship, which they continue to this day, and it is VERY enviable. Bravo guys!!!! Freddie and I relaxed in the TV/lounge area and just chatted.......a serious, fun, funny, psychological, examining, exchange of thoughts, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Delilah was with us, but chose to not interrupt as the adults were in heavy conversation. BUT......the early 80"s as Thor pointed out, was a different story. Chat was always energetic and fun and filled with laughs. Not that Freddie wouldn't take seriously, any issue we might be having with work or family.....he was always very kind that way. He was always a friend when called upon.

In closing tonight, as my eyes are bleary, I wanna say one thing. I appreciate the gay or not gay subject is part of knowing Freddie, and I think that the consensus here is that people on this thread get it. Thor's analogy was GREAT. If someone said that Freddie hated cats, but those closest to him said he adored them........to whom would you listen.? We knew Freddie for the last 11 years of his life. We went out with him a LOT. We saw who he was interested in a LOT. Perhaps threads like this will help the haters of gay people realize what his story was.

I met Freddie in the fall of 80.........I was away with a performing job during the summer of 80 when the Anvil encounter, and Thor's trip to Philadelphia took place, but I was brought into the fold in the fall when I returned, and it was a ride of a life time that I will never forget. Our last night together, in 84? as I recall, was a dinner at a place called Joanne's in.........Chelsea?.....Murray Hill? It was a difficult evening, as we didn't know when our paths would cross again.

Wembley Concert was the next stop!!!!!!

Stay tuned.

Happy Holidays All, and God Bless. Talk to you next week. God Bless and Happy EVERYTHING, and every day.

What other funny moments/quotes can you remember from Freddie? Or memories you have of hanging out with him backstage, at Garden Lodge, or in New York City? I love hearing personal anecdotes from people that knew him. What was backstage like? Were you introduced to the roadies? Did Freddie ever mention his childhood to you? Sorry for all of the questions.

What is disgusting? Phoebe's books?

There is no disrespect from the Thor and Lee, and certainly nothing disgusting from them.

It is certainly better than gossip from any British tabloid.

Except for a few interlopers, gay bashing is not the intent of this thread.

Do we really need to be politically correct for Freddie? Is Freddie's family offended?.

Jeez .. its been 25 years since he died.

I suggest Ignore and Isolate anyone who throws inflammatory statements into this thread without concrete examples of what their gripe is.

Lee has said he'll stay away every time there is arguing.

Personally I think adults should be able to have a debate without it turning into a meaningless fight.

pittrek is predominantly a good poster on Queenzone. I suspect he equates this thread to a British tabloid, and sees this thread as nothing more than.gossip.

I disagree, but everyone is entitled to an opinion.

I agree everyone is entitled to an opinion, but to carry any weight, surely it needs to be backed up with a reason / example..

Pittrek, sorry if I jumped the gun, but you might see that earlier it was felt the best thing to do for negative posts was to ignore and isolate. That's obviously not the case with genuine discussion, but there were some bizarre posts earlier.
