Honestly, why should we feel entitled to anything from anybody? Thor and Lee gave us so many amazing anecdotes about Freddie and freely shared their memories of him. They took a lot of time to patiently respond to each of our questions - even the silly ones. So, I am very grateful for whatever time they shared with us. And that is not called 'kissing butt' - that is called 'being appreciative'.

Thor and Lee both send very lovely messages to most of us. But naturally they are busy with their lives, as are we.

Here is something Thor wrote to me after seeing the negativity here these past few days. So, to set the record straight, here are Thor's own words (with his permission).
"I arrived on QZ purely by accident after Googling my own name. I wanted to set the record straight that I was not Freddie's lover but close friend. To think that I was doing market research is absurd. Lee has preserved his pictures for over 30 years and we did not ever speak of making money off of them. We did the "Freddie's Loves" documentary because we thought it would shed light on the real Freddie namely the person and the friend who we wanted to share with the world. We did not make any money for our appearance, but we got one night stay at the Beverly Hilton and a lunch. We were disappointed in the finished product.

After encouragement from some wonderful people, and the fact that I was spending many hours a day answering questions, Lee and I decided to give it a go and again attempt to shed light on the side of Freddie that most people probably don't know.

The haters need conspiracy theories to spread their negativity and share their misery.

We are considering a return to the thread in the future but as for now the LAST thing we need is discouragement about our project."

Lee doesn't message anyone. You have to know how silly you sound when you talk about not kissing butt...you Noorie were the Queen of butt kissing here. With that fake uncle story, it did get old pretty quick.

I'm amazed to see that this thread is still gaining comments. What's left to talk about? I'm excited for the book. Let's just look forward. Regardless of what you think the thread was, it's over now and there's a book coming out of it. Someone else said it best when they said at the very least we can all get pumped about there being another book that comes from a direct source to Freddie. Those are indeed very rare.

Peace, all.

Hahaha!! Glad to hear I am 'Queen' of something on QueenZone.
Btw, I have received 6 messages from Lee. Not that that makes any difference to anything.

Lol so you count the messages from Lee like that makes you the special one? My friend villers here is on his personal Facebook page and he doesn't add strangers apparently. If you're playing a lame tit for tat game, I think you just lost with that fact. He messaged everyone a few times before he left the thread. You messaging him on your own to ask questions doesnt count as him reaching out to you to be his friend or confidant. You're not special Noorie. Your uncle never knew Freddie and you don't have any unique insight on Freddie because you claim to be Persian too. Nobody cares.

Lol I've never bothered to count how many messages I got from Lee...not sure why anyone would care. Both of them have messaged nearly all of us. These are regular people, guys- not Christ almighty. Its not that crucial lol.

I wish them both the best and good luck on the book.

Now, it's 5pm here. Time for a cold beer and a spin of a good record. Thinking Bowie, tonight.

See y'all

Counting how many messages you got from Thor and Lee? That's a bit sad. Thor trusted me enough to send photos of me through his personal phone number and send me a photo of him in 2017. Yes I actually have Thors phone number. Does that win this pissing contest Norrie? Good thing this thread ended. Heres hoping the fans have a better reaction to their book than they had to his thread. Childish.

Does Dustin count cards?

This pissing and moaning about noorie is worse than Flash Elephant.

If Thor and Lee are smart, we've likely seen the last of them on QZ until they have a book deal.

This drama is extaordinarily tedious.

By the way, I have you all beat ... Thor and Lee have issued 17 restraining orders against me ... LOL

Does he count cards? That makes no sense. Im afraid noorie brought it on herself this time.

I think you're right. They likely won't be back until the book is a done deal. Last I heard from Thor he said they'd like to keep their stories and pics close to the vest until the book comes out. Understandable but I'm curious as to what else they can tell us that they havent already. Or will it be a collection of the stories they've already posted here? I guess we'll just wait and see. Either way, I'll be buying a copy.

I think you are assuming Noorie is bragging about six messages ... it is not hard to count to six.

Yes but the fact that she felt the need to give everyone the number of messages she received from Lee at all comes off as a desperate attempt at bragging. Which is likely what annoyed everyone. Myself included. Seemed childish.

I think Dustin was just saying what we all felt. In a more blunt way than i ever would lol.

It did come off that way, squirrelly. I was going to say something as well and decided against it. I'll just say.... I too rolled my eyes.

Personally I think Thor got a lot out of this forum. He chatted about all sorts of things, not just Freddie and took the time to get to 'know' us a bit (as much as you can online).

This thread started to feel quite cohesive. At the moment it's going the other way.

I noticed someone mentioned that Thor might consider a return to the thread if / when he's up for it. I just think we should make it worth returning to. If he doesn't, the glass is still half full, he interacted with us and he gave more than would be given for marketing purposes alone.

It's a very long and interesting thread! Wow!!
Hey Thor, your insights are really fascinating... however I was wondering about something ...

Peter Freestone - Freddie Mercury - An Intimate Memoir by the Man Who Knew Him Best (Chapter one):

"On July 11 and 12, 1986, the band returned to Wembley with A Kind Of Magic under their belts. Freddie had flown the New York Daughters specifically to see one of these shows. He knew it was going to be something to be proud of. He hired a coach for the show which left Garden Lodge with all his guests including Straker, Mary Austin, Wayne Eagling, Gordon Atkinson, Gordon Dalziel and Graham Hamilton, Barbara Valentin and Trevor Clarke. It was my job to ensure that the coach was laden with goodies for the trip out for the guests and on the trip back
when Freddie himself joined in. This was to be the start of one very long party. I don’t think there are many stars who would indulge in this kind of behaviour. I don’t know that there are that many of his equivalent status who would have that many friends who would come together at one time to celebrate their friend’s success. And they certainly wouldn’t have travelled on a bus!"

All his close friends together!!! Wonderful!! Weren't you smitten to be sitting next to a Fassbinder Muse? You knew a lot of famous people!! You are a very lucky man!! Did you go to the party at the Roof Garden?

I'm thinking perhaps Peter Freestone was mistaken in his account of who was there, as much as I respect his p.o.v and believe most of what he says to be accurate...
Thor and Lee closed this thread, so I'm taking it upon myself to answer. Thor and Lee both knew nothing about Barbara until they read it in a biography and Freddie didn't introduce them. She was supposedly quite a loud, larger-than-life person so I'm sure they would remember her if she was there. They've mentioned Mick Jagger though!

Further to this, she does not appear in any backstage Wembley footage, nor is she in any of the Kensington Roof Gardens party photos on Getty Images. She doesn't appear in the Summer 86 Garden Lodge footage either. Surely if she was there, she would be staying in his house and hanging out with his New York Daughters. In fact there are no photos of them together throughout the whole of 1986, as far as I know, which supports what she said about them not speaking for just over a year.

Because the Daughters and Barbara were from different countries, it would seem weird if they just turned up on different nights then went away. They would all have been staying with Freddie and would have met. It makes more sense for Peter to be wrong. Especially if you add in the fact she doesn't appear in any photos or backstage video footage, and she said they fell out temporarily at this time.
