OMG I just spent some time reading through this thread so as not to repeat any questions and was taken on one hell of a roller coaster ride!

Thor and Lee, I can’t wait to see YOUR pictures and hear YOUR stories in the book. I will be donating very soon.

As for the movie, how did y’all feel about the “truck stop” scene, it seemed so tacky. Also I am super glad that Sasha Baron Cohen did not play Freddie, just no.

Happy Thanksgiving week! Enjoy!

The guy "Freddie" was eyeing up was Adam Lambert in the worst wig I've ever seen lol. According to some article online (so who knows how accurate that is) he wanted to play Freddie's lover, originally. Not Jim but another boyfriend or short term love interest. Instead, they got him in a scruffy mustache and messy wigg for that scene. My cousin learned in and whispered "Freddie pulled a George Michael??? Following a guy in a public bathroom for a..." I told her no. I think the movie meant for the audience to see him thinking about it or wanting it but not acting on it. But I'm sure it was just meant to show his desire for men and not literally mean he enjoyed a bathroom fling lol.

You are correct Villiers,
Freddie was not one to pursue the "tea-room" scene in America nor was he, as they call it in the UK, a fan of "cottaging"

They could have achieved the same result if they just had Freddie "checking out" some nicer looking man, which he did
frequently without remorse or self-hatred.

Thor, my thoughts exactly! They could have had him checking out any guy anywhere. To me it gave the impression that he followed the guy into the bathroom. And all I could think was that no matter how crazy his partying lifestyle was he was too classy for that.

Hi folks,

I found many little moments in this film reprehensible when I was fairly sure that it did not reflect the REAL Freddie! I think the departed deserve even more of our respective in this manner i.e. not manufacturing details about their lives for public consumption, than do the living, as they cannot defend themselves against libel or slander!

Freddie was a fascinating creature n his own right! Embellishments and untruths were not necessary

Sorry to harp on, but disrespect is a pet hate of mine.

FreddieDarling,
I agree with your comment that Freddie is fascinating without the need for any embellishment.
Our book certainly highlights this.

Hi Thor,

Thought I would squeeze in a simple question before you left...What Queen songs did you most enjoy hearing Freddie sing when you attended his concerts? Sadly, I never saw him perform live, thus my picks are limited to what I've seen in concert videos. I don't think I could select a favorite Queen song...but overall, I really enjoy the 70's stuff. Not necessarily the songs that charted, but things like "March of the Black Queen" "White Queen" and "The Prophets Song" are amazing.

Thor, I have a question about concerts too. Of the ones you went to, were there opening bands or was it all Queen? Did Freddie go to and/or take y’all to other bands concerts?

Hey Rainbow,
That's a hard question because I became real tuned in to the Queen songs of the '80s and so they
get my vote, basically the entire Live Aid songs. Early Queen I find wonderful but I don't tend to
hum those tunes...they were rocky while I was discoish (forgive me). The later songs (other than
the solo adventures) made me happy but as time went on, made me choke-up because I knew
Freddie's fate. "These are the Days of Our Lives" in particular and I get goose-bumps every time
I listen to it and look at Freddie's courage in this last effort. Oh my God, I just shed a tear writing
this.
