The miracle
mother love (live version)
I want to break hammers
Kensington stall (unreleased vocal demonstration)
You're mother is tied down
We will rock you

(I think they did a legit job at the gig, they engaged everybody well and played the hits with HTF (current okay song that's rhythm seems to simulate blaring alarms : another great embellishment of the concept within the art)

....i don't think they missed anything for an upbeat DAYTIME performance.

certainly couldn't pull any others from THE GAME/HOT SPACE/THE WORKS that would've suited the time frame and pace without adding more arcs than necessary in the lifts and pulls

BoRhap was clear to turn heads for any drunken "ruffians" who were not paying attention, the rest was a fun arc.

They did great condensation

I can understand Hammer To Fall being in there as the latest single, but perhaps it might have vied with I Want To Break Free or Another One Bites The Dust for a spot? (Although, with the subject matter of Live Aid/Band Aid in mind, A song called 'Another One Bites the Dust' would have been seen as wholly inappropriate).

They pretty much got it bang on.

Bohemian Rhapsody
Radio Ga Ga
Hammer To Fall
Crazy Little Thing Called Love
We Will Rock You
We Are The Champions

I think the set they played was the best they could've played. Obviously they had to play Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio Ga Ga, We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions - big global hits which are very popular live too.

Crazy Little Thing Called Love again like the others is an obvious song to play because it was massive globally and a fun one to play live.

Hammer To Fall seems the most odd song they played but they needed a "rock" song, this at the time was their best well-known heavy song, probably down to the reason that it was a fairly new song.

Another One Bites The Dust is the worst they could've played at the event despite it being their biggest selling single. Again, I Want To Break Free would seem a little bit wrong in the context.

Under Pressure would've been too good to be played in Queen's set, I reckon it would've been played in the finale. I think the reason why it wasn't played is that David Bowie wasn't a fan of the song, in fact I don't think he played it until the 90s.

Love Of My Life would've been a nice one to play with the audience singing along but remember this would've been an audience of people who on the whole won't have been big Queen fans.

Somebody To Love and Killer Queen are other big songs they could've played but seeing that they were played in a medley during The Works Tour and were dropped at the end of it probably meant that the band were less willing to play those songs.

It's hard to think of an alternative to HTF. It's certainly the odd man out but thematically and tempo-wise, why not. If they threw it in as a 'safe' choice that they knew they'd nail it's ironic it's the song with the most fluffs.

Wow.. widely regarded as the greatest live performance of all time and someone has just asked what would you have done differently :/

If Bohemian Rhapsody wasn't on A Night At The Opera which Chas and Dave song would you choose?

FYI the reason I asked this question was because they chose to include Hammer To Fall and I found that odd since they had many other songs that are ARGUABLY better.

Hammer To Fall is actually one of my favorite Queen songs, and I think Queen's Live Aid set was amazing, but I was curious to see what other people thought

I would add in the hard rock part from Bo Rhap, maybe a more complete version of we will rock you, because I felt like these two songs ended a bit abruptly. I know they had to cut them for the time limit, but the hard rock section of Bohemian Rhapsody was really great. Maybe lead into RGG with the piano conclusion of BoRhap?

Still, they were amazing already.

They could have been brave and thrown in Masters of War instead of HTF. It would be nice to contrast Roger's lyrics in Radio Ga Ga, with their hard-hitting cultural criticism, with Dylan's more modest efforts ...
