The following contains more canned luncheon meat:
"Just one year ago..." well one year and about 3 weeks. and now I'm currently writing a dissertation on David Irving and Holocaust denial. 12,000 words the fucker, done approx 10,870 so not too bad on the word count front but fuck knows about the actual content. Just watched that Peter Kay night on C4, a better alternative to any Steven Segal flick. But it was nice to hear the mention of the great man's name during the biscuit dipping gag.
As for the 'Zone, well one year on and its reached a depth I'd have never imagined. Shame. Well not really.
Looks like I'll be going to see the WWRY musical sometime during the summer, thought I might aswell go and see it before it shuts down its London HQ so at least I can tick off that box on the "I'm a more hardcore Queen-fan than you" questionnaire if it exists. But I'd still be considered a minor as I'm sure there's plenty of characters around this gaff who have seen the musical about 20 times. In each country.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Queen + Paul Rodgers tour. The only worthwhile thing the Queen people have done in years. I saw half of Queen perform live FFS! That'll do me under the circumstances. Never bought the official CD, DVD or any of the official downloads. Bollocks to that, I settled for the bootleg of the concert I went to. Whoever recorded it I rejoice to the Lord that your mother and father decided to get the grind on during that wonderful moment of passion many moons ago. Anyway, everything else to do with the tour, official or otherwise was simply inferior in capturing the joy and immense happiness of that great night in Manchester. I have seen the DVD, a few of them shots of the crowd, oh dear me. That woman during '39? Shitting hell, she looked a bit too aggressive and hardcore for my liking. I think I've seen her on the QOL forum and I think I've visited her website which has some great photo's and stuff from the tour.
Wonder what's next on the cards for the Queen+ "I know lets be the most commercial band in the world ever to try and rake more money in from those muppets who will buy anything and everything that has the Queen name printed on it" bandwagon. I'm betting on another remake of WWRY. Maybe it'll be the Queen of Ethiopia's birthday soon. I hear they've got a cracking children's choir. Fuckin hell, with the exception of the Paul Rodgers thing and maybe the 46664 concerts, Queen+ is a pile of shit on toast. God bless John Deacon. In a perfect world the great man would forge out a successful solo career in the coming years, his retirement during the past decade being a mere cover for his years of vocal training and superior song writing. The Deacon would be the true phoenix rising from the flames, denouncing most of the Queen+ tripe and forging out his own legacy as the greatest (living) member of the rock band Queen. Or alternatively he can do the next best thing and enjoy his retirement for many more years to come. God bless The Deacon.
Anyway back to Irving. Hopefully I'll be back next year commenting on how great working life is. Until then adieu and take care...
